Howdy!
Gosh its been awhile since I have posted anything!
I have been busy, busy!
I have a new job, I am no longer working at the Wine Cellar but instead, I am a receptionist at the bookstore on campus. I am very happy with my new job.
CoCo is growing like a weed and she is so adorable! She turned 3 months on the 15th and she goes to the vet next week for more shots (I am so excited about that...not).
Classes begin at the end of next month and I can't wait, I miss going to class.
In 2 weeks I move into my new apartment!!!! I am really excited about that, its going to be really great.

I hate, absolutely hate scorpions!! I just had to deal with one in my bedroom. So, as it turns out, I am sleeping on the couch for fear of more coming out of the woodwork in my room. I was changing the sheets on the bed and all of a sudden this thing pops down onto the ceiling fan (my bed is really high up...). I scream and run for my roommate. It then fell down off the fan onto the floor and we sprayed wasp spray on it (its the only thing we have...mom said it would work). We sprayed it so much but even after we scooped it up and threw it into the toilet, it was still alive!!! We quickly flushed the toilet (twice mind you...) and so now I am sleeping on the couch. Did I mention I hate scorpions? Tomorrow scorpion spray....

Wow, its been awhile since I have been able to post anything on here.....
Lets see.... I recently turned 22 (YAY!), I might not be working at my current job for too much longer (too long to go into detail besides its not worth it), and I finally heard from the guy I was seeing.
I decided to email him (I did this a couple of weeks ago) and asked him why he hadn't emailed or called me when he had said he had a great time. He emailed me on my birthday to say that it wasn't working out and that hopefully I would have a nice summer... Anyway, what a birthday greeting (he knew it was my birthday and he didn't say anything about it). All I have to say is that it is his loss!
In other news, a friend and I saw the aviator before she left on her trip to England and we decided we didn't like it. It was just very sad and we thought it was going to be something different (though I don't really know how we thought it was different, it just felt that way).
Well, I guess thats about it for now.

Nothing much is going on this week.
Last night I had a couple of friends over (I am still housesitting) and we made Bellinis and that meant a trip to walmart for peaches and champagne (the cheap stuff--don't tell my boss) and to my apartment for peach schnapps. They turned out pretty well.
Yesterday afternoon I had my first real massage. A new friend of mine is a massage therapist and I got a message free. It was sooo great!!!! I wish I could have one everyday, it was so relaxing. She is really good and has been doing it for a couple of years. That was the best part of my day besides not having to work yesterday. Wednesdays are my day off and I was so glad yesterday was Wednesday. There have been a few mistakes at work lately, not necessarily done by me but it still wasn't good. But anyway, it was no big deal. I guess thats it for now.

Ok, so I have been debating whether or not to post this but I will.....

I had been talking to this guy for about 2 months and 2 weeks ago we had our first date (actually 2 weeks to this day). He was very sweet (and very cute), we had lots in common, and God! was he a gentleman. He drove a really nice car (BMW!) and he was 21. He took me out three times that week. The second date we had, he took me to my favorite restaurant because it was my favorite and he wanted to take me there. That night he also spent a lot of money on me (I'm not trying to brag, I am just trying to explain...you'll see), he bought a $40 bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay and he surprised me with stargazer lilies (also one of my favorites) plus he has paid for everything all three times we went out. So the third date (so far our last one) we go to dinner and a movie. At the end of the evening, we say goodbye and that we BOTH had a good time and that he would call me. Well, you guessed it, he has yet to call! Why tell me you having been having fun and spend a lot of money on someone if you don't want to keep going out with them? Anyway, I wish someone could explain this to me.... because he really seemed to like me and I really liked him so why just dropping me like that.

Well, grades came back yesterday....and thats all I want to say about that. Actually, I will say one thing more, I did get a 'B' in my new testament class as I thought I would but the others I won't comment on....

Also yesterday I saw Tandolynn! We haven't spoken in almost a year (long story, but its fine now---no worries). We had a blast. We ran all over Austin, ate at Kerby Lane and then said good bye and that we would never not call each other again! Fun times.

Now I am at work and have been for the past 6 hours. My boss has gone to Dallas for golf and I was asked to work from 12-7. Yes, that means more hours but I am so bored. I brought a book but didn't feel like reading it so I have been on the internet (which is nothing new). But thats about it for now.

Ok so, I am up incredibly early! I have been up since 5:30am and its now going on 6:30am. I am sure you are wondering why I am up and maybe even what am I doing so early in the morning....(especially if you know me really well).

Well yesterday I slept until about 10:45am and I didn't go to bed last night until 2am. Long story, I will spare you most of the details. It was one of my roommate's birthdays and we had tons of fun! The story involves sparkling wine, a couple of imported beers and relaxing and talking about nothing inparticular in a hottub. It was a nice quite way to spend an evening.

Well also yesterday, my best friend in the whole world called out of the blue!!! She will be in Austin this Friday and I am going to meet her and spent some time with her. This is also a long story but what basically I haven't seen or heard from her since last year a couple of days before her wedding which I missed. She lives in Amarillo and I live near Austin. Anyway, I am excited.

So this is why I am up before the sun...I think I want to go back to sleep now, too bad I can't because I have stuff to do...

Today has been an interesting day... I have been up for about 5 hours and the first 2 hours were dramatic. Its over now and I really can't say anything more but some of it was quite entertaining! Anyway I am at work now and tonight I look forward to going out with friends.
Two friends of mine (former co-workers from Polo, who still work there) and I are planning to go to Joe's Crab Shack and then off to the movies. In San Marcos we have this dollar theater (well $2) and on Tuesdays they have whats called 50-cent Tuesdays. So we are going to see Million Dollar Baby. Its the only thing out of the three movies that are showing that seems interesting. So that is where I will be tonight.
Yesterday at work (remember I work in a wine store), we tasted Korbel's Chardonnay Champagne. It was sooo good!!! I was allowed to take the rest home and immediately emailed a friend and asked if she wanted some free champagne. 30 minutes later the call was, "I can't pass up free champagne!" So we ate and drank, it was a fun evening.

School is over for me until this coming fall!!! I am so happy this semester is over. The next big thing are grades that will be coming out a week from now....yuck.... I am not looking forward to that day. But for now I am a happy camper!

Academics might have sucked this semester but other things have been going rather well. I have lots of friends, family, cool people to hang out with...

Well, yesterday I took my new testament final and it was much harder than expected.... But I am sure I will get at least a "B" in the class.
I just finished my english final this morning and it kind of sucked... but oh well, its over! Apparently my professor never got any emails I sent him all semester saying that he doesn't have emails...... On the contact website for the university it shows he has an email address. So I think what he should have said was that he has it but chooses not to acknowledge it...anywho, I was not a happy person. Does anyone else find this not fair???? (Especially since I don't ever remember him mentioning this in class.....)
So now I am writing this and going to study for my next final (french) which is at 11:30am. I hate having more than one final a day!!! Its not fair but its almost over.

~Paper that I must write by Friday that was actually do earlier this week (procrastination, computer problems).
~Finals start next week!!!! Must make good grades or things won't be going so well....
~Must find extra summer job, no longer a peer minister (which I loved so much but I didn't have a choice to continue....boo!)
~On a good note--- I will be 22 years old on May 31st!!!!! So very exciting!!!!

~buy mom a wonderful present for Mother's Day in Austin with a friend next Saturday...

History in the Making

Cardinal Ratzinger became Pope Benedict XVI today.
This is a very cool moment in history and its amazing to have whiched something like this unfold.
Not that I believe that the Episcopal Church should have a pope or anything but its just amazing, living during such historical moments is just so cool! I am a huge history buff and this excites me to no end!

I have been hearing reports on the news that his papacy is expected to be a "transitional papacy", just short term. Its kind of sad when you think about it, the new pope isn't expected to have a long reign so they can elect a new one all over again. Ratzinger is 78, John Paul II was 84 when he died.... The newly elected pope is two years shy from not having been included in the conclave. Its all very interesting. But he was said to have been one of the top candidates and he was also Dean of the College of Cardinals which is impressive.
Its good that the Roman Catholics now have a pope and that the process went so quickly. Wonder if my Roman Catholic roommate knows.....she has been keeping a close watch on all of the events these past couple of weeks.

Yesterday a Papal funeral, today a Royal Wedding.....

Today Britain celebrated the wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Charles to Mrs. Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Although I am a Diana fan (actually a fan of the whole British Monarchy and have been since I could remember), I think life is too short to not be happy. If Charles and Camilla are happy then so be it and I hope they have a long and happy life together.

I have more great news!!!!
On Wednesday, we had another quiz in my new testament class and I received a 100! I am so happy. Sorry but my grades in this class on this blog will come up fairly often because I am doing so well in it and I am struggling in my other classes. So good grades in this class is always very exciting. So I really cannot wait to go to seminary because I love what I am learning!!

Today is going to be a relaxing day....

I finally found the passage of scripture I was talking about earlier. Have you ever tried to find a specific passage of scripture in a Bible (online or otherwise) and not being able to find it? It seems that I can only find passages in my own Bible. I must have looked online for an hour today while at work when I was posting my earlier thoughts. Oh well.
The passage is Acts 17:16-34
My second comment I made earlier about the Old Testament references seems to not be here....I think it was another part of Acts (we covered almost the whole book on Wednesday) but I remember talking about it and making the comment. Anyway.

This evening was really a nice one except for the tremendous downpour we received quite all of sudden. Two of my roommates and I took advantage of the beautiful day outside after work/class (obviously before the rain) to tan by the pool at our apartment. The only thing is I don't tan, I burn. So I didn't stay out long but it didn't matter, I still glow in the dark!!! I thought, surely I would look as though I got some sun but no, I didn't. I even put on tanning oil and laid out for 20 mins (that is way too long for me). I usually stay out 5-10mins and am red as a lobster but nope, still glow in the dark. I give up.
After 'tanning' or not, I went inside and watched tv. The roommates and I plus one boyfriend (not mine) order pizza. I finished watching Will & Grace but while watching it said boyfriend commented that he had seen this episode already. I said its almost over I haven't seen it yet. He said he couldn't believe that he has actually seen an episode that I haven't (he doesn't watch it ever, he didn't know why he had seen the episode that he had). You have to understand I love, absolutely adore Will & Grace. I am such a fan that back in high school during my junior (maybe senior, I forget) year we had extra after school hours of choir practice every Thursday night from 8-10. They were manditory, no excuses. I would miss them sometimes just to watch Will & Grace. I loved choir but singing the same songs for 6 months for a convention (grant it only 5 choir in the US were allowed to sing at this very important event and we were one of them) including our regular concert pieces, Christmas-- the whole bit was getting old and I wanted to do something else. So I missed a couple a practices to watch a show. I had fun.
So we watched the end of Will & Grace and then watched the Incredibles, which is a pretty cute movie.

Yesterday was a really great day. The only thing I didn't like about it was that my New Testament professor still (after 3 weeks) given back our midterms! But she says that today will be the day and then she said "I realize that by now, you all don't believe me."....She is fairly right. I had a good time in that class just because I was able to participate and respond to what we were reading (The Acts of the Apostles) and I don't do that very often. We were talking about Paul in one particular passage in Acts (the passage escapes me now and I cannot seem to locate it at the moment) and how Paul was talking to the Greeks. My prof asked "Why couldn't Paul just immediately start giving them a bad time?" (He was talking about idols) and then I said "Because then they wouldn't listen." She said extactly. I know thats not anything big but it feels really cool to participate in that class, its my favorite of the ones I am taking right now and so it makes me happy to say something in class. Then we moved on to another part of the same chapter and I believe we were discussing why there was some old testament (I really can't remember exactly what was said....) sayings in this passage and why would the Greeks be interested. I said "They wouldn't be, they are Greek" (We were still on the subject of idols). As soon as I find the passages we talked about, I will post them.

Later that day I went to my campus ministry as I do every Wednesday for food and discussion. Only this time we ate later than anticipated so we didn't have a discussion. Afterwards, two of my friends and I went to a place called Nephew's for karaoke and we had so much fun!!! For those of you who know me, you are probably thinking... Heather? karaoke? REALLY?? Yes, really. It was a lot of fun!!!!

Yesterday was a fairly good day, nothing unusual to report. I had a french exam that I was suppose to take on Good Friday but my professor let me reschedule it for yesterday which was really nice.
Now I am at work and posting on my website. I am sure you are wondering what exactly I do at my job that I am free to surf the internet 75% of the time. Well I work for a shop called "The Wine Cellar", its a brand new fine wine store in our area and I was lucky enough to get the job after having quit my previous job for the second time (long story). Not only do we sell wine but we also sell chocolates, nuts, cigars, cigar accessories, wine accessories and imported beers. There is work to do but business is kind of slow so when I am not doing stuff that my boss wants me to do, I am on the internet. My roommates say I have the ultimate dream job. Not only do I get to have some free time but I taste wine and some beer during work hours (Every college kid's dream!). They especially like it when I take my work home with me. It is a lot of fun and I am very grateful for this job.
As I have told some of you that might be reading this blog, I am planning on putting things of pertaining to the church at different times and I am going to include my own writings including some sermons. I have a sermon I am going to post soon from January. Please feel free to post your comments about what I have said.

Last week was Holy Week. It was a really busy week for me.

Not only did I have class but I also had lots to do at church. On Wednesday my campus ministry held our traditional Seder meal which was the best it has ever been! On Thursday St. Mark's held Maundy Thursday services. During the service we stripped the Altar and draped it in black. It was a very sober, very moving service. After the service our church had a vigil at the Altar of Repose. A friend of mine and I stayed the whole night and watched over the reserve sacrament. It is sort of a tradition we have begun (this year only being the second time we have done it). On Friday, I didn't go to class but unfortunately my boss made me work. So I didn't get to walk the stations of the cross which has been my own personal tradition (it sucks too because I heard the stations were awesome this year). I also did not attend the chapel service at noon (mostly because I knew that with as little sleep as I had had, I could not survive work) but if I hadn't gone to work I would have gone to both the service and the stations and then just crashed afterwards. Oh well. There is always next year. On Saturday we had the Great Vigil of Easter. It was an amazing service!!!!!! We had four baptisms and our traditional champagne reception, it was great!
